Turkey Visa for Algerian Citizens

Whether Algerian passport holders need a visa for Turkey depends on your age. Under 15 or over 50 you travel visa-free; aged 15 to 50 a visa is required, and the online e-Visa is open to you only if you already hold a valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa or residence permit. Here is how it works.

Turkey is an easy Mediterranean hop for Algerian travellers, with Istanbul, Cappadocia, the Aegean coast and Pamukkale all within reach of a direct flight from Algiers. So do Algerians need a visa for Turkey, and is the e-Visa enough? The short answer is that it depends entirely on how old you are: children under 15 and travellers over 50 are visa-free, while everyone in between needs a visa.

This guide explains, in plain language, which Algerian age bands are exempt, who qualifies for the conditional e-Visa, who must use a Turkish consulate instead, what it costs, how long you may stay and what happens when you land. It is written for ordinary (tourist) passport holders travelling for tourism or short business.

Because the rules and fees are set by the Turkish government and can change, treat everything below as guidance and confirm the current requirements on the official portal before you apply or travel.

Visa rules can change — always confirm current requirements on the official Republic of Türkiye e-Visa site (evisa.gov.tr) before travel. Fees and conditions below are approximate guidance, not a guarantee.

Do Algerian citizens need a visa for Turkey?

It depends on your age. Algerian ordinary passport holders under 15 or over 50 do not need a visa and may stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Between 15 and 50, a visa is required for any purpose, including tourism, and there is no visa-on-arrival counter for Algerian passports. Which route applies — the online e-Visa or a sticker visa from a Turkish mission — depends on your age band and supporting documents.

The age rule: who is exempt and who needs a visa

The exemption sits at both ends of the age range. Ordinary passport holders under 15 travel visa-free, as do those over 50, in both cases for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Everyone aged 15 to 50 needs a visa. Within that band the official sources do not read consistently for travellers aged 18 to 35: one indicates the conditional e-Visa is open to the whole 15–50 band, another that 18 to 35 must obtain a sticker visa from a Turkish embassy or consulate. This page follows the stricter reading — if you are 18 to 35, plan for a consulate sticker visa and verify your own case in the apply flow at evisa.gov.tr before you buy a ticket.

e-Visa eligibility & conditions for Algerians

For the age bands that need a visa, the e-Visa is conditional rather than automatic. An Algerian citizen aged 15 to 50 can generally use it only while holding a valid visa or residence permit from a Schengen member state, the United States, the United Kingdom or Ireland, and the passport must usually be valid for at least six months beyond the arrival date. Where granted, it is a single-entry permit for one month. Without one of those supporting documents there is no e-Visa route at all and the application becomes a consulate one — and travellers aged 18 to 35 should assume the consulate route regardless.

How to apply (official e-Visa portal evisa.gov.tr)

Apply only through the official Republic of Türkiye portal at evisa.gov.tr. Select Algeria as your country and enter your date of birth and passport details — the portal applies the age and supporting-document rules for you, and will tell you whether the e-Visa is open to you or whether you must approach a Turkish embassy or consulate. If it is open, confirm your supporting visa or residence permit, pay by card and receive the e-Visa by email as a PDF. Avoid third-party "visa" websites that charge inflated service fees — the government site is the only official source.

Cost, validity & processing time

There is no fee for the exempt age bands — under 15 and over 50 travel on the passport alone, and any site offering to sell them a Turkey visa is charging for something they do not need. For everyone else the e-Visa fee is nationality-specific and is shown only in the apply flow at evisa.gov.tr, so no figure is quoted here — check the amount on screen before paying. Where granted, the conditional e-Visa is single-entry and valid for one month, allowing a stay of up to 30 days. Approval is often quick, but apply several days before you fly; a consulate sticker visa typically takes several working days or more. Always check the validity printed on your own approved visa.

Documents needed

If you are exempt, your ordinary passport is the document — keep its validity comfortably beyond your trip. If you are 15 to 50, you will generally need: a passport valid at least six months beyond arrival; the valid supporting visa or residence permit from the Schengen area, the USA, the UK or Ireland if you are using the e-Visa; a payment card; and basic travel details. Immigration may also ask for a return or onward ticket, proof of accommodation and sufficient funds, so keep your hotel booking and itinerary handy.

At the airport

On arrival in Turkey, present your passport — plus your approved e-Visa or sticker visa and the supporting document you qualified with, if you needed one. Officers may ask about your hotel, length of stay and return flight. Carry proof of age if your passport photo makes you look close to a band boundary. With your documents in order, clearance is usually quick.

Apply on the official portal

The only official place to apply is the Republic of Türkiye e-Visa portal. Avoid third-party sites that charge inflated fees.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Algerians need a visa for Turkey in 2026?

It depends on your age. Algerian ordinary passport holders under 15 or over 50 are visa-free for stays of up to 90 days within 180 days. Travellers aged 15 to 50 need a visa — either the conditional e-Visa or a sticker visa from a Turkish mission. Confirm your own case on evisa.gov.tr before booking.

Are Algerians over 50 visa-free for Turkey?

Yes. Algerian ordinary passport holders over 50 do not need a visa and may stay up to 90 days within a 180-day period, as may children under 15. There is nothing to apply for and no fee to pay. Rules can change, so confirm on evisa.gov.tr before you travel.

Can Algerian citizens get a Turkey e-Visa?

Only conditionally, and only if you are in an age band that needs a visa. An Algerian aged 15 to 50 qualifies for the e-Visa only while holding a valid visa or residence permit from a Schengen member state, the USA, the UK or Ireland. Without one, a consulate sticker visa is required.

Can Algerians aged 18 to 35 use the Turkey e-Visa?

Treat the answer as no. Official sources conflict on this band — one opens the conditional e-Visa to all 15 to 50 year olds, another restricts 18 to 35 to a sticker visa from a Turkish embassy or consulate. Plan for the consulate route and verify in the apply flow at evisa.gov.tr before ticketing.

How much does a Turkey visa cost for Algerian citizens?

Nothing for the exempt age bands — under 15 and over 50 pay no visa fee. For everyone else the fee is nationality-specific and is displayed only in the apply flow on evisa.gov.tr, so check the figure shown on the official site before paying rather than trusting a price quoted elsewhere.

How long can Algerians stay in Turkey?

If you are exempt, up to 90 days within a 180-day period. On the conditional e-Visa it is a single-entry permit for one month, allowing a stay of up to 30 days. Always check the validity printed on your own approved visa.

Which website is the official one for the Turkey e-Visa?

Only evisa.gov.tr, the Republic of Türkiye government portal, is official. Many third-party sites look similar but charge much higher fees. Apply directly on the official site.
