Do Algerian citizens need a visa for Turkey?
It depends on your age. Algerian ordinary passport holders under 15 or over 50 do not need a visa and may stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Between 15 and 50, a visa is required for any purpose, including tourism, and there is no visa-on-arrival counter for Algerian passports. Which route applies — the online e-Visa or a sticker visa from a Turkish mission — depends on your age band and supporting documents.
The age rule: who is exempt and who needs a visa
The exemption sits at both ends of the age range. Ordinary passport holders under 15 travel visa-free, as do those over 50, in both cases for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Everyone aged 15 to 50 needs a visa. Within that band the official sources do not read consistently for travellers aged 18 to 35: one indicates the conditional e-Visa is open to the whole 15–50 band, another that 18 to 35 must obtain a sticker visa from a Turkish embassy or consulate. This page follows the stricter reading — if you are 18 to 35, plan for a consulate sticker visa and verify your own case in the apply flow at evisa.gov.tr before you buy a ticket.
e-Visa eligibility & conditions for Algerians
For the age bands that need a visa, the e-Visa is conditional rather than automatic. An Algerian citizen aged 15 to 50 can generally use it only while holding a valid visa or residence permit from a Schengen member state, the United States, the United Kingdom or Ireland, and the passport must usually be valid for at least six months beyond the arrival date. Where granted, it is a single-entry permit for one month. Without one of those supporting documents there is no e-Visa route at all and the application becomes a consulate one — and travellers aged 18 to 35 should assume the consulate route regardless.
How to apply (official e-Visa portal evisa.gov.tr)
Apply only through the official Republic of Türkiye portal at evisa.gov.tr. Select Algeria as your country and enter your date of birth and passport details — the portal applies the age and supporting-document rules for you, and will tell you whether the e-Visa is open to you or whether you must approach a Turkish embassy or consulate. If it is open, confirm your supporting visa or residence permit, pay by card and receive the e-Visa by email as a PDF. Avoid third-party "visa" websites that charge inflated service fees — the government site is the only official source.
Cost, validity & processing time
There is no fee for the exempt age bands — under 15 and over 50 travel on the passport alone, and any site offering to sell them a Turkey visa is charging for something they do not need. For everyone else the e-Visa fee is nationality-specific and is shown only in the apply flow at evisa.gov.tr, so no figure is quoted here — check the amount on screen before paying. Where granted, the conditional e-Visa is single-entry and valid for one month, allowing a stay of up to 30 days. Approval is often quick, but apply several days before you fly; a consulate sticker visa typically takes several working days or more. Always check the validity printed on your own approved visa.
Documents needed
If you are exempt, your ordinary passport is the document — keep its validity comfortably beyond your trip. If you are 15 to 50, you will generally need: a passport valid at least six months beyond arrival; the valid supporting visa or residence permit from the Schengen area, the USA, the UK or Ireland if you are using the e-Visa; a payment card; and basic travel details. Immigration may also ask for a return or onward ticket, proof of accommodation and sufficient funds, so keep your hotel booking and itinerary handy.
At the airport
On arrival in Turkey, present your passport — plus your approved e-Visa or sticker visa and the supporting document you qualified with, if you needed one. Officers may ask about your hotel, length of stay and return flight. Carry proof of age if your passport photo makes you look close to a band boundary. With your documents in order, clearance is usually quick.
Apply on the official portal
The only official place to apply is the Republic of Türkiye e-Visa portal. Avoid third-party sites that charge inflated fees.
