How to get to Alanya
Gazipaşa–Alanya Airport (GZP) is the closest, about 40 km east of town, with a transfer of roughly 45 minutes to an hour. Antalya Airport (AYT) is further away, around 120 km, but has a much wider range of connections, with a transfer of about 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on traffic; many visitors fly into Antalya and treat the drive as part of the trip along the coast. Direct flights to Gazipaşa are more seasonal, so travellers connecting through Istanbul or arriving off-season often find Antalya the more practical option despite the longer road transfer.
Where to stay in Alanya
The stretch behind Cleopatra Beach, close to the castle and old town, suits visitors who want to walk to sights, restaurants and the harbour. East of the centre, the long beach corridor towards Konaklı, Mahmutlar and Kargıcak is where most of the large all-inclusive resorts sit, better suited to travellers who want a self-contained hotel stay with less need to head into town.
