Day by Day Itinerary

Arrival — Istanbul

Arrival at Istanbul Airport, where you are met by your licensed guide and private coach and transferred to your hotel. The evening is free to rest before the pilgrimage begins. Overnight in Istanbul.

Istanbul — The Old City & Sunday Mass

Morning Mass at the Church of St Antoine of Padua on İstiklal Avenue, the largest Catholic church in Istanbul. Continue to the Old City for Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, and descend into the sixth-century Basilica Cistern. Overnight in Istanbul.

Istanbul → Adana → Mersin · 28 June

Morning transfer to the airport for the domestic flight to Adana. On arrival you are met and driven to Mersin. In the evening the pilgrimage gathers for prayer in Mersin, followed by the welcome reception that opens St Paul Global Week. Overnight in Mersin.

TARSUS — The Feast of St Paul · 29 June

The heart of the pilgrimage. Travel to Tarsus, birthplace of the Apostle, for the Feast Day Mass at the St Paul Memorial Museum — celebrated in two services and broadcast live to the world. Visit St Paul's Well and the Ancient Tarsus Market that runs beside it. Overnight in Mersin.

Antioch — Where They Were First Called Christians · 30 June

Drive to Antakya, the Antioch of the Acts of the Apostles, where the disciples were first called Christians and from which Paul set out on his missionary journeys. Visit the Cave Church of St Peter and the Hatay Archaeology Museum. Return through Mersin for the Church of St Anthony of Padua and the Mersin Orthodox Church. Overnight in Mersin.

Mersin → Cappadocia

Leave the Mediterranean and climb north across the Taurus Mountains into Cappadocia, the land of the Cappadocian Fathers. Afternoon at leisure among the valleys. Overnight in Cappadocia.

Cappadocia — Full Day

A full day among the rock churches: the Göreme Open-Air Museum with its frescoed chapels and the Dark Church, the Devrent and Paşabağ valleys, the pottery village of Avanos, Uçhisar Castle, and the underground city of Kaymaklı. Overnight in Cappadocia.

Cappadocia → Konya (Iconium)

Drive west along the old Silk Road with a stop at the Sultanhanı Caravanserai. Arrive in Konya — the Iconium of Acts, where Paul and Barnabas preached and where a great number came to believe — and visit the Mevlana Museum. Overnight in Konya.

Konya → Laodicea → Pamukkale

Continue into the Lycus Valley. Visit Laodicea, one of the Seven Churches of Revelation and named in Paul's letter to the Colossians, then the white travertine terraces and the ancient city of Hierapolis. Overnight in Pamukkale.

Pamukkale → Ephesus → Izmir

Drive to Selçuk for Ephesus, where Paul lived and taught for three years — the marble street, the Library of Celsus, and the Great Theatre where the silversmiths raised their riot against him. Continue to Izmir. Overnight in Izmir.

Ephesus Environs & Smyrna

Return to the hills above Ephesus for the House of the Virgin Mary, then the Basilica of St John, raised over the Apostle's tomb. Back in Izmir, walk the Agora of Smyrna — the Church of Smyrna of the Book of Revelation. Overnight in Izmir.

After breakfast, transfer to Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) for your onward flight. End of our services.
