Mersin
Mersin is the Mediterranean port city of ancient Cilicia and the coastal base for visits to Tarsus, twenty-five kilometres inland. Along its shore stand the ruins of Soli Pompeiopolis, whose colonnade once ran down to a Roman harbour, and further west the island castle of Kizkalesi — the Maiden's Castle — sits offshore within sight of its mainland twin. Mersin is a working city rather than a resort, and it is where the St Paul Global Week pilgrimage is based.
