KUS – 03 - FULL DAY TOUR – Pamukkale, Calcium Terraces, Hierapolis. Pick up from your hotel and drive to Pamukkale. Pamukkale stands for 'Cotton Castle' in Turkish. There are 17 distinct thermal springs at Pamukkale with water temperatures between 35-100°C. Over thousands of years, hot spring water has created 'cotton-looking' white calcium terraces known as travertines. Once known as Hierapolis, the site offers a thermal pool in which you can swim with ancient artifacts. The springs have drawn people since antiquity: Hierapolis grew up around them as a Greco-Roman spa town, and by legend Cleopatra herself bathed here. Today the same recreation is available to any visitor. The pool provides today's visitors a rare opportunity to swim with antiquities. The largest ancient cemetery in Asia Minor called necropolis, the Domitian Road and gate, Plutonium, a fountain, a theater, Hierapolis Museum are other attractions in the city. The ancient site has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1988.
